One of them I will take at the end of class time and the other you will take home and enter into your blog at home over the long weekend.

Also, follow the directions on the slip of paper I gave you during class. You need to follow this blog where as I will be posting things and assignments throughout the year.

Finally, I apologize for blogger not working in school. Its frustrating to me just as it is to you. I don't know if we will continue with google blogger following the term 1 book review. We may switch to wordpress which is another blogging website. We'll see...

Coolidge Video

Here is a brief video I added onto the blog about Calvin Coolidge. If you look at the menu bar while your in the "post" screen view, you will see a directors slate. If you click on that, you will be brought to a menu where you can select youtube videos or any other video from a website. Just type in a topic, pick the video, and it's on your blog!

It's real easy to use, considering it took me all of two seconds to put together...

Calvin Coolidge

To provide an example of a blog, I will discuss my favorite President Calvin Coolidge.

Calvin Coolidge was the 30th President of the United States. Although he was born in Vermont, he lived in Massachusetts for most of his life. He served as the mayor of Northampton, Massachusetts. He was also a state legislator and later became Governor of Massachusetts. Coolidge's claim to fame was his actions during the famous Boston Police strike of 1919. His handling of the crisis elevated him to national prominence and later became the Vice-Presidential candidate with Warren G. Harding in the 1920 Presidential Election.

Coolidge later became President when  Harding died of a heart-attack in 1923. Coolidge would serve out the remainder of his term and run again in 1924 where he won in a landslide.

Here is a picture of Calvin Coolidge I inserted using the picture permalink option.

During his administration, he was known for his dry New England sense of humor and his zeal to keep government as small as possible. The "Roaring 20's" became the "Roaring 20's" under Coolidge due to government cuts, low taxes, and low inflationary rates.

Coolidge's most famous quote was "The business of America is business." Coolidge's get government out of the way approach helped the economy grow larger than any other point in history. In 1928, he declined to run for a second term and eventually died in the early 1930s. Coolidge is often remembered as the father of the modern conservative movement with his small government beliefs.
